She took a deep breath in as she walked the grounds. The air was brisk, and cold. She smiled as the wind hit her face. She then stopped at the site of the lake which was in all it beauty, the most beautiful place she had seen in a long time. She smiled as the sun sat upon the lake. She sat to see the sun set.

Piper was jogging around the lake when she spotted a girl. She looked like a first year. Piper didn't want to see another person. She didn't want to like another person. The last time that happened, it was all taken away from her. She couldn't let that happen again. Piper tried to pick up her pace, but tripped over a pebble. She felt like she was going to throw up. She'd just run nearly 10 miles. She hadn't run in at least 3 months. Her head throbbed. She wanted to take a break, but she knew she couldn't if she didn't want that girl to talk to her. Piper struggled to get up. She found that her ankle was sore as well. Aww... great! I sprained my ankle. That is just my luck, She thought to herself. She wiped the sweat off her forehead onto her shirt.

She watched the girl fall, and she wanted to make sure she was all right, but the look and the sense she got was, that this girl was very angry, and did not want, nor need another female bothering her. Amy was a veela, so these feelings came very clear to her, if this girl wanted to talk, she would have to say the first word. For her mother always taught her, never do something without a sign first.

Calix wouldn't have wanted this. Neither would Chaya. Oh, what the heck. I might as well talk to her, Piper thought. She forced herself to give a small smile. She knew it wasn't convincing, but it was the best she could do. Her head continued to throb, adding to the pain of her foot. "Hi, I'm Piper." She said. The words sounded harsh and cold, but she hadn't meant for them to sound like that. She hadn't spoken to anyone in a long time.

She gave a small smile back and said " Amy, I can see your in pain, please let me help you." She was not much of a talker but, when it came time to talk, talking is what she did. She Sat Piper against the tree and said "Hows your ankle, I may be just a first year, but I was taught a few things by my father I'm sure I can help you, but only if you want me too." She gave another small smile.

"It's just twisted. The pain should go away in a few moments, but thanks anyway." Piper said. This girl was nice. Piper was starting to warm up to her. Piper wanted to just leave so she wouldn't warm up to her anymore, but something inside of her wanted to just keep talking. "So... how's your first year going?" She asked.

"Well if I could change years I would, but it hasn't been all bad. your the first person I have spoken too."She gave a small laugh. She liked talking to Piper, it was nice talking to a person, and not writing to them. She smiled and said "So hows your year going? I hope alright, not counting your ankle."

"I got here last night, so not much has happened. I guess it's been alright... certainly better th..." She stopped, not wanting to finish her sentence, she knew if she did, the girl would ask what happened before, and she really did not feel like talking about it. She forced another smile, but this one was slightly more genuine. She decided she might as well let herself become friends with people, last year was over and none of that stuff would ever happen again, she hoped.

As Piper stopped at her sentence, Amy knew not to ask. She knew if a person had a bad time or something had happen, she knew ot to ask about it, if Piper needed someone to talk to, Amy would let her knew that she was there. She smiled and said "I am a veela, I thought I should let you know, almost everyone I met, don't like veelas. I'm really not that bad."she laughed.

"And there are plenty of people who don't like former Death Eaters, so we're pretty much even." Piper smiled. That was all she was going to say about her past. She was glad this girl was somewhat open with her.

Amy smiled and said "Everyone has a past, its just a matter of what you do with it. My mother taught me that."she smiled. Amy didn't judge anyone before, she wasn't about to do it now. "The key word there was former, which, in some point people will commend you."she said/

"Your mother was very right, I guess." Piper said, glad this girl didn't care about her past. Piper looked around, not able to think of anything else to say.

She smiled and said "No matter what has happened or had happened to you, just realize that if you live in the past, you'll never get to the future."She smiled and then said "Well, my mother had a bad past, she was very mean, so was my father, but they both have changed and I am glad to say, that I love them, and alot of other people do. But thats neither here nor there. So what do you like to do for fun?"

"Well... I love singing. I also play the piano and the guitar. I also love horses. I ride them as often as possible when I'm not here. I enjoy dancing, but I'm not that great at it." She smiled, "And you?"
